CCTV Drain Inspections in Auckland

Find out what’s happening inside your drains.

If your drain keeps blocking or never quite drains properly, clearing it may only be part of the answer.

A CCTV drain inspection can help reveal what is happening inside the pipe, so you can understand the problem before deciding what to do next.

Pipe Fix Plumbing uses specialist drain cameras to investigate drainage issues across Auckland. We’ll talk you through what we find and explain the options.

When drain inspections are useful

A one-off blockage and a problem that keeps coming back may need different approaches. A camera inspection can help when:

  • Your drain blocks again soon after being cleared.
  • Water drains slowly or backs up without an obvious cause.
  • You suspect tree roots are getting into the pipe.
  • You’re concerned about a cracked, collapsed or misaligned section.
  • You want a clearer understanding of the problem before agreeing to repairs.

If the drain is blocked, we may need to clear it first so the camera can pass through and give us a useful view. Find out more about our blocked drain and drainage services.

What can a CCTV drain inspection show?

We feed a small camera through a suitable access point to look inside the drain. It can help us spot visible problems and built up debris that may be affecting the flow.

Seeing inside the pipe helps us explain what may be causing the trouble. Sometimes a thorough clean is the next step. If we find signs of damage we can discuss what further investigation or repair may be needed.

What to expect

  • Tell us what's been happening.

Give us a call and tell us what the problem is, how often it happens, and whether the drain is currently blocked.

  • We check access and inspect the drain.

We find a suitable entry point and run the camera through the pipe where access and conditions allow. If a blockage prevents a useful inspection, we’ll explain what needs to happen first.

  • We talk you through the findings

We explain what the camera has shown and the next steps we recommend so you understand your options.

  • You decide how to proceed

If further work is needed, we’ll discuss the proposed work and pricing before going ahead.

How much does a CCTV drain inspection cost?

Just $295 + GST* for one hour

This includes drain clearing and CCTV inspection. Drains usually need clearing first so the camera can pass through.

You’ll receive a copy of the inspection video, with a written report provided as required.

Tell us a little about the issue and your property’s location. We can discuss what the inspection is likely to involve and provide pricing before work starts.

Frequently asked questions

  • Do you need to dig up the drain for an inspection?

Usually, the camera goes in through an existing access point. We’ll check what access is available at your property and explain any limitations.

  • Can a camera find out why my drain keeps blocking?

It can often reveal visible causes. A heavily blocked pipe may need clearing before we can inspect it properly.

  • Is a CCTV inspection the same as drain unblocking?

They do different jobs. A camera inspection helps us investigate the problem inside the pipe, while drain unblocking removes an obstruction. Depending on the issue your drain may need both.

  • Can you inspect stormwater and sewer drains at residential and commercial properties?

Yes, we inspect both stormwater and sewer drains at residential and commercial properties. If your drain extends beyond our camera’s reach, we can recommend a specialist partner to help.

  • Do you offer CCTV drain inspections after-hours, and which areas do you cover?

Yes, after-hours CCTV drain inspections are available across much of Auckland. Contact us to confirm availability in your area.
